Almas Caviar
Almas is the caviar you should get if you’re looking for the best of the best. “Almas” translates to “diamond” in Russian, which tells us a lot about these delicious eggs. The price for this top-of-the-line caviar is close to $40 000 per kilogram. That may sound incredibly expensive but the quality and rarity of it surely makes up for the price.
The caviar is white in appearance. What makes this caviar so rare is the fact that it comes from 100 year old albinos sturgeons from the Caspian sea. You did read right, 100 year old albinos sturgeons. No wonder why they are so rare!
As a general rule, the whiter the caviar is means the older the sturgeon was and, therefore, the more elegant and delicious the flavor is.
The Almas is one of those things that you do not find off the shelf of any grocery store. It is actually only served in the Caviar House & Prunier in London’s Piccadilly. It is also supposedly the most expensive venue in London. The eggs are as well served in nothing less than a 24K gold tin… Probably helps reminding you that you’re having the most expensive caviar for diner so you can enjoy it ’till the very last piece!
